Developing character

I am a politician of sorts. I am an assistant to the prime minister  I studied government and politics but I do not feel like this is what I want to do with my life. My career in politics and being an assistant to the prime minister has exposed me to the world of education and this is why I want to be a teacher. I disagree with some of the foundations of this countries educational system and I want to do what I can to better it. I do not enjoy working for the prime minister but it is a very good job which other people have coveted and fought for, that also pays very well in our current economy so I am in no position to complain. I am very good with technology and the development brought on by the industrial revolution that allows society's current consumerist lifestyle inspires me. My connection to the political world lies in my work life but I feel like I have a connection with the people of the world through twitter an Facebook and social networking. People are constantly posting and updating and tweeting their opinions in today's modern society. If someone has a dodgy haircut on X-factor you can be sure that twitter with have thousand of people talking about it. Similarly when larger scale controversial events occur such as Madeleine McCanns disappearance or the London riots or the US government shutdown or the mass killing in Syria, people instantly jump on Facebook and create a new page dedicated to it, or post pictures on Facebook and tumblr. Social networking is an integral, and in some ways detrimental element of our consumerist society. But it is a way to tap in to what the people really think. It irritates me that the government and many national corporations and companies send out thousands of pointless surveys and questionnaires every year, which contain narrow minded questions, and a large majority of these don't get filled in and returned. If people realized the buckets of potential that social networking could have in terms of finding the honest unedited and unscripted opinions of the people it would save them a lot of time!
